It took 14 hours of air travel to get here, but Rome, you are beautiful! Heavily jetlagged today, we did a overview tour of Ancient Rome without paying to see any of the individual sight in detail (plenty of time for that later this week). We walked the "backbone" of the ancient area of Paletine Hill, the Forum, and Capitol Hill along Via di San Gregorio and Via dei Fori Imperiali, and were overwhelmed by the sheer volume of historic treasures. No amount of reading up on guidebooks can prepare you for this place!
